Pac Xon borrows from two old arcade ideas at once. The ghosts come from Pacman, while the job of sealing off areas of the board comes from area capture games like Chomp. Ghosts drift around the field, and you close off sections to catch them.
It moves quickly, which is why it fits so well in our Arcade section. Pac Xon steers with the arrow keys at a desk, and it opens just as easily on a phone.
Capturing ground and ghosts
You guide your character with the arrow keys and cut across the open part of the board. When you close off an area, that area is captured, and any ghosts shut inside it are caught along with it. Keep carving off pieces until the board is taken. Watch the ghosts as you draw your lines, since a careless path can end badly.
Tips for Pac Xon
- Start with small, safe cuts near the edge before you try a long line across the middle.
- Wait until the ghosts drift away from the path you want to draw.
- Try to close areas where a ghost is wandering, trapping it counts toward clearing the field.
