How mahjong solitaire is played
Mahjong solitaire uses the tiles of the Chinese game but none of its rules. The tiles are stacked in a layout, and you remove them in matching pairs. A tile can be taken when it is not covered and could slide out sideways, meaning one of its long edges is clear. Clear every tile and you win.
Mahjongg is the classic version and the most played free mahjong game in this category. Mahjong Titans and Shanghai Dynasty follow the same rules with different layouts. Mahjongg Dimensions changes things by stacking the tiles in a 3D cube you rotate, and there is a clock to beat.
Connect mahjong is its own style. In Mahjong Connect the tiles lie flat, and you can take a pair only if a line with no more than two turns joins them. Nearly all of these games are HTML5 and play on a phone too. The best habit in classic mahjong is to free the long rows and the tallest stacks first.
